Subject:  Strange Appearance (11/8/01)

Q.      My partner's genitals look...different.  Should I be concerned?

A.      Well, it depends on what you mean by “different”.  If you are referring to sores or a discharge from his or her genitals, then yes, you may have reason to be concerned.  If you just mean different than other genitals you have seen, I would say, no, you probably don’t need to be concerned.  Genitals come in all different shapes and sizes and there is no such thing as right or wrong.  If you are concerned that your partner has an STD, you should discuss this with him or her, and continue practicing safer sex until you are certain that no STDs are present.
